Q
What is the difference between platinum and gold mountings in the filigree styles?
A

Most styles are available in both platinum and gold. Aside from the difference in price of the metal, there are many advantages to platinum filigree jewelry. Platinum is a harder metal; this translates into durability of your ring. The bright luster of platinum highlights the intricate engraving and carving of the filigree on these rings. The bright luster provides a beautiful background for your diamond center stone; the color of the platinum will not taint the sparkle of the stone.

Q
What kind of diamonds does Whitehouse Brothers use in their rings? How can I be sure the diamonds are not “conflict diamonds”?
A

The small diamonds used in Whitehouse Brothers jewelry are known as melee and are graded GIA color G-H, clarity VVS. These diamonds pass through De Beers, which guarantees that they are not “conflict diamonds”. Rebel forces in Africa have illegally used the diamond trade to finance atrocities committed on civilian populations. You can read more about this issue and the Kimberley Process, which aims to halt this illegal trade at www.debeers.com.
